About the writer
Nicole has taught French to grades 3 through 12, including AP French Language since 1993. Nicole is very active in professional organizations, including the Foreign Language Association of Greater Sacramento, the California Language Teachers' Association and the American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages.
Nicole is also a member of the Association of Supervision and Curriculum Development, the American Association of Teachers of French, the International Association of Language Learning Technology, and the International Society for Technology in Education.
She has presented workshops and professional development for sessions ranging from one hour to 40-hour seminars and has presented in person and online (using virtual class environments) to audiences around the world. Her presentations address multiple aspects of research-based best-practices for world language teaching.
Nicole has been honored with the following recognition, among others:

Winner of the 2010 Jane Ortner Educating through Music Award for the curriculum guide presented on this site
2011-2012 San Juan Teacher of the Year

Finalist for 2012 California State Teacher of the Year
California Language Teachers Association Outstanding Teacher Award
Foreign Language Association Outstanding Teacher Award
Recognized for the work in which students are engaged by Hilton Hotels, National Geographic, the
Centre de la Francophonie des Amériques
, and even a Guinness World Record.
Nicole achieved National Board Certification in 2003 (and is currently seeking renewal) and earned her M.Ed in 2006. She currently teaches French at Bella Vista High School in Fair Oaks.
